Hickle, Crum and Forler Score NSA Series and ASCS Frontier Region Wins During 23rd annual Montana Round Up at Electric City

Inside Line Promotions – GREAT FALLS, Mont. (Sept. 4, 2017) – Parity was the theme of the weekend at Electric City Speedway, which hosted the 23rd annual Montana Round Up.

J.J. Hickle, Chance Crum and Logan Forler were the feature winners of the NSA Series and ASCS Frontier Region tripleheader with Forler accumulating the most overall points to be crowned the event champion out of more than 30 competitors. Crum placed second in points and Hickle third as the top three earned bonus money.

Not only was there a new face in Victory Lane each night, most races showcased fresh winners. Nine different drivers were victorious during the dozen heat races on the weekend and a different driver picked up the win in the four B Mains at the event. Additionally, only six of the 19 total races – 12 heat races, four B Mains and three A Mains – on the weekend were won by the polesitter and seven races were claimed by drivers starting on the third row or further back.

The action began on Friday when Trever Kirkland, NSA Series points leader Casey Adams, David Miller and Forler each recorded a heat race triumph before Jeremy McCune won the B Main.

Hickle then maneuvered from sixth to record his fourth NSA Series feature victory of the season with eighth-starting Sean MacDonell placing second. ASCS Frontier Region points leader David Hoiness ended third with Forler powering from 11th to fourth and Kelly Miller rounding out the top five.

The bullring hosted Round 2 on Saturday with Kirkland, Crum, Mindy McCord and Adams registering heat race wins before Bill Boyce and Nick Tresmaker posted B Main triumphs.

Crum charged from eighth to earn his second career NSA Series feature win with Forler ending in the runner-up position. McCord placed third with Kelly Miller fourth and 11th-starting Chris Schmelzle fifth.

The event concluded on Sunday when Hoiness, David Miller, Steve Reeves and Hickle captured heat race victories and Tom Watts garnered the B Main win after starting 10th.

Forler rallied from his seventh starting position to wrap up the weekend with a trip to the Winner’s Circle during the A Main. Crum finished second with Kelly Miller charging from 18th to third. Bill Boyce placed fourth and Hickle was fifth.

The NSA Series will return to action on Sept. 15-16 at BMP Speedway in Billings, Mont., for the Dan Laber Memorial. The event will be co-sanctioned with the ASCS Frontier Region.
