Pat LaMere xxJuly 18, 2014 – Friday night had perfect weather as the WISSOTA Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and IMCA Modifieds arrived for a great night of racing. A special Dash for Cash for the Midwest Modifieds was on the cards for the evening as well.
A single heat of WISSOTA Street Stocks had Troy Weninger coming out on the top of the field. In the feature, Kyle Jarvey had a right front flat tire that brought out the first caution. Kelan Kropp brought out the other caution. Ron Mattern claimed another victory for the season. Brice Miesmer and Troy Weninger finished second and third respectively.
With Kory Wermling and Ron Sasek taking the heat victories in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds the back runners were invited to a special six lap dash for cash. Joey Tinker, Kody Harvie, John Price and Cody Kuglin were the recipients of the invitation. Just before intermission the drivers took to the track and Tinker went home with a little cash bonus. A caution for track conditions flew at the start of the feature. After the restart and the completion of the first lap, Wermling’s night took a turn for the worse as entering turn three he lost the engine. Ten laps later Kody Harvie brought out a caution in turn four. The red flag flew on lap fourteen when Harvie rolled on the backstretch coming to rest at the bottom of the turn three entry. Driver was ok but the car is done for the season. Zach Olson returned to victory lane when the final flag flew in the event.
Matt O’Connell and Casey Steffenson were the heat winners for the WISSOTA Super Stocks. Multiple cautions plagued the feature event and many drivers had to drop out due to mechanical failures or damage. The night was all Pat LaMere, however. His #85 was out front for a majority of the race. After two attempts at a green white checkered finish LaMere was deemed the winner of the event. This victory came just four days after LaMere celebrated his birthday.
Closing out the evening were the IMCA Modifieds. Mark Wermling and Gary Hill claimed the heat victories. In the feature, it appeared Wermling and Hill were going to have a close finish until a caution flew on lap 18. As the field came to the restart Wermling’s car broke in the rear and he came to a stop on the front stretch. After the restart Hill shot ahead of the others and there was no looking back. Once again Hill found his way to victory lane.
